What are the hardware requirements for the ADC application?+

ADC is a Windows® PC application that can be installed on any PC computer including a desktop, laptop, or tablet. Ideally, it is a touch-enabled device such as a Surface Pro® tablet with a stylus and detachable keyboard, but data can also be entered with any input including a regular keyboard, touchpad, and mouse.

Alternatively, ADC can be run on any non-PC such as an Apple® or Android® computer or device using Remote Desktop Licenses.

The computer or device must have a minimum of 12 GB of hard drive space free, and have a video resolution of 1024 X 768, or greater.

For tablet devices, we highly recommend purchasing protective cases from Urban Armor Gear® that help keep your devices safe from damage if accidentally dropped. The cases for many different devices are available at urbanarmorgear.com.

Since this is a Windows® PC based application, can I use it on an Apple® device or on an Android® tablet?+

Our ADC application is a touch-enabled implementation for Windows® PC's, but it can also be run on any computer hardware with an internet connection.

ADC can be run directly on any Apple® computer or device including a Mac laptop, an iPad, or an iPad Pro. It can also be run on any Android® computer or device. Simply install the free Microsoft Remote Desktop® application on the computer or device, and set this up to run ADC. Since this is run directly on the servers for ADC, it runs very fast and with world class data security.

What are the software requirements for the ADC application?+

When ADC is installed on a PC, the software requirement for this application is Windows 7 OS or a later version.

When running ADC on a non-PC, the software requirement is running the free Windows Remote Desktop® application on your computer or device or else having a web browser installed to access the RDWeb interface to run ADC.

What are the advantages for this application to be web-based versus a standalone application that I only install on my practice computers?+

This is a great question. With this web-based application, each practice's database is kept on very secure, enterprise class co-location servers available to all Practice users at any location. For PC users, automatic updates for ADC are delivered to the user when connecting to the co-location servers. ADC updates are done automatically at the servers for non-PC users.

If an internet connection is temporarily lost, this application can still be run by the user by connecting to the internet using a cell phone hotspot.

This approach also eliminates the complications of installation of this application for all users. The same application is very easily installed on all PC computers without having to do complicated and confusing server and workstation set-ups. For non-PC users, it only requires very easy installation and set-up of the Windows Remote Desktop® application. Alternatively, non-PC users can connect to the RDWeb interface to run ADC online.

By keeping each practice's data on very secure, enterprise class co-location servers, this provides an easy to use and secure web portal for clients and referring veterinarians.

As this program is creating legal medical records, what assurances do I have the records will be safe from hacking or loss in the future?+

As for major banks, all of your Practice data is kept on enterprise class co-location servers with the highest level of world class data security. Data is backed up daily at two separate locations each with high level biometric security to protect against catastrophic failure such as a fire, floods, or a terrorist attack.

Access to your data is protected via login credentials that are forced to be random. This prevents "bots" which are computers infected with malware without the users' knowledge and controlled by cybercriminals from guessing passwords by performing verb and numeric based attacks. Additionally, after 5 invalid attempts, access is suspended based upon the IP address of the offender. In summary, if external "bots" attempt to guess passwords to gain access, they will be banned by a commercial firewall.

In regards to the data itself, all passwords are security "hashed", meaning they are never exposed. So even if someone did hack into your local network, they could not gain access to your data on ADC.
